Pregnant - what next? --> Recommendations

In order to have an optimal pregnancy, we have a few recommendations:

  • Eat fresh vegetables and fruit every day and about three milk products.
  • Take a pregnancy supplement if you cannot eat fresh vegetables and fruit.
  • Don't take a vitamin supplement that is not specifically for pregnant women.
  • Don't eat raw meat or unwashed vegetables and fruit.
  • Don't eat any French cheeses made from raw milk.
  • Avoid eating liver or liver products if possible.
  • Don't clean out the cat litter yourself and wear gloves when gardening.
  • Smoking and drinking alcoholic drinks are strongly advised against during pregnancy.

We advise you to take a pregnancy course. There you will learn, among other things, how to control the contractions during labour. There are also many books you can read to prepare for you pregnancy and delivery.


Breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is the best kind of food for the baby. We join forces on this with the breastfeeding centre in Amsterdam . These experts on lactation organize information and publicity evenings. They will also answer any questions you have in preparation of breastfeeding your baby. During your confinement you can call in the lactation expert, if you need intensive guidance.
